A circular walk provided by the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, part of which gets you from Fair Oak Farm to Mayfield past historic iron age sites.  The walk is called "A vision of Hell" which would not be most people's description of the area east of Mayfield today. However in Tudor times this area was the iron-making, industrial capital of England, with the night sky lit up by the flames of furnaces and the glow of molten iron, accompanied by the turning of waterwheels and the blows of hammers. The walk takes in two furnace sites and many of the woods which supplied them - including one called Bedlam.

Lakedown Trout Fishery is in a secluded location across the valley from the accommodation at the farm with scenic views & no visible sign of habitation.  The Fishery was originally designed & created by actor & pop legend Roger Daltrey.  The four spring-fed lakes totalling approximately 26 acres have an abundance of aquatic fly life and are open all year round.  Also a good venue for corporate days and weddings.  Advance booking highly recommended.  Contact Teddy or Norman.  Tel: 01435 883449.

"A visual assault on the senses. There can be no prettier fishery in this land. Spikes of bright yellow flag decorate the banks which are thick with beds of rose bay willow herb, bee-haunted fox gloves & spotted orchid. A place where wild browns & rainbows live side by side" - ‘Trout Fisherman’ August 2005
