IMPORTANT NOTICE

Despite high demand, we are currently not accepting bookings for weddings and large events at the farm because we are keen to limit disruption and re-introduce farming on our land.  We have already recently re-allocated over 3 acres of development and garden use back to agricultural use.

We are currently not taking any bookings for clay pigeon shooting and all bookings for outdoor activities will continue to be limited to small groups only.  Nor are we accepting bookings for conferences and business meetings at this time.

Clay pigeon shooting was introduced at Fair Oak Farm on a very small scale when a regular shooting event on a neighbouring farm was discontinued.  It is likely that this much larger scale shoot is going to be re-introduced. We would be happy to provide you with contact details for the organisers.

We currently have a planning application in place for two small self-catering treehouse-style rooms, increasing the capacity of our accommodation back up to previously permitted levels, sleeping 14-19.  If the application is approved we will be ceasing all outdoor activities and events because it will enable us to utilise our agricultural land, with the introduction of more Alpaca breeding and a vineyard, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment for our guests and neighbours.

Conversely, in the event that we are refused planning permission for the two treehouse-style rooms we would be looking at re-introducing larger events, including weddings, as per previous owners of Fair Oak Farm.  We may also utilise other buildings, previously used for holiday accommodation to increase the capacity back to previous levels.  A planning decision is expected early June 2010 so watch this space!  Depending on the result, we will either be meeting demand for large events and weddings or returning to previous capacity levels for our accommodation.

Key Benefits for our treehouse-style rooms:

   *   Re-introduction of farming to our agricultural land.

   *   Reduce cars and traffic on our narrow country lanes.

   *   Reduce oil and electrical consumption with the introduction of air source and solar heating.

   *   Provide improved habitat for wildlife.

   *   Provide local jobs and help keep local village shops and pubs in business.

   *   Protect and enhance our countryside.

   *   Achieve an appropriate balance; increasing farming whilst benefitting the local economy.
